Sports specialists celebrate school contract wins

10/09/10

SportStars, a business which specialises in providing high quality sports coaching for children aged 4-12, has secured contract wins with schools across south Wales including Machen primary and  Hendredenny Park primary  in Caerphilly and Peter Lea primary in Cardiff.

Providing head teachers with a solution for covering PPA time through structured PE, music and drama lessons, SportStars has grown from securing five contracts in its first year, to working with over 150 schools across south Wales and the south West of England.

On winning the additional contracts ahead of the new academic year, managing director James Taylor said: “To win these new contracts is fantastic news for SportStars. These new wins show that schools are beginning to see the benefits that outsourcing PPA can bring to a school. PPA cover provides the ideal opportunity to bring in sport specialists to help develop healthier children and raise awareness of the importance of keeping active.”

Established by James Taylor, the company’s growth has spiralled since the government’s introduction of structured planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time for teachers in 2005. In 2009, SportStars expanded its offering into the south west of England opening an office in Bristol.

The contract wins add to an extensive growth period for the Cardiff-based business having witnessed a 50 per cent increase in their holiday courses throughout this summer.

Continued James: “Winning these new contracts in previously untapped county boroughs across Wales is down to not only the quality of service provided but the talented team of sports specialists we employ and the great results that they are achieving. Here at SportStars we pride ourselves on offering a high class affordable service which is available to all primary schools across south Wales and the south west of England.
